Tanveer Syeda-Mahmood

Dr. Tanveer Syeda-Mahmood is an IBM Fellow and Global Imaging AI Leader in IBM Research. Currently, her group is leading the charge on advancing multimodal and bioinspired AI. The goal is to advance the science of AI by drawing inspiration from computational models of various brain functions such as memory and learning and modeling the fusion of multiple modalities for information processing. Dr. Syeda-Mahmood has deep expertise in many areas of AI with a long history of work in healthcare AI for clinical decision support in the fields of radiology and cardiology through exploratory grand challenge projects such as Medical Sieve which led to the IBM Watson Health Imaging business. Dr. Syeda-Mahmood is currently the general chair of MICCAI 2023, and has previously chaired CVPR and IEEE ISBI. She has over 300 publications and holds over 130 patents. Dr. Syeda-Mahmood is a Fellow of IEEE, MICCAI and AIMB and has won numerous IBM awards for her technical eminence.
