Jason Fries is a research scientist at Stanford University's Center for Biomedical Informatics Research. His research explores machine learning in healthcare, focusing on methods for creating and shaping training data. His interests include weakly supervised learning, large-scale language modeling, and multimodal representation learning. He previously completed his postdoc in computer science at Stanford where he collaborated on development of the weak supervision framework Snorkel. He received his PhD in computer science from the University of Iowa, where he studied computational epidemiology and NLP methods for syndromic surveillance.
