HAILS Program

Lead AI transformation in healthcare.

Artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare at an unprecedented pace. Yet successfully implementing AI requires more than understanding the technology. It requires leaders who can evaluate emerging capabilities, navigate organizational change, and responsibly translate innovation into clinical practice.

The Stanford Healthcare AI Leadership & Strategy (HAILS) program is designed for clinicians, healthcare leaders, researchers, and innovators who are leading—or preparing to lead—the adoption of AI within their organizations. Through expert instruction, hands-on workshops, collaborative discussion, and peer learning, participants gain practical strategies for evaluating, implementing, and governing AI in healthcare.

Co-hosted by the Stanford Division of Computational Medicine and the Stanford Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (AIMI), in partnership with ARISE, HAILS combines immersive on-campus sessions with virtual learning to equip participants with the knowledge, network, and leadership skills to drive meaningful and responsible AI innovation.

May 7 – June 4, 2027
Format: Hybrid (virtual with two immersive days at Stanford, May 14–15, 2027)
Participants also have the opportunity to attend Stanford Health AI Week events (May 17–21, 2027).

Program Format

HAILS combines immersive, in-person learning with virtual programming that extends discussion, reinforces key concepts, and supports participants as they apply new ideas.

The program includes:

Two immersive days on the Stanford campus
Four weeks of virtual learning
Interactive workshops and office hours
Peer discussions and collaborative problem-solving
Leadership exercises and implementation planning
Networking with faculty and fellow participants

Tuition & Application

HAILS is offered through a competitive application process. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the cohort is full.


Early Tuition for those who apply by 7/26/26 or for the first 20 accepted applicants	$8,000
Standard Tuition	$8,800

Tuition includes all program instruction, course materials, on-campus meals during the required in-person sessions, and networking events. Participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging. Tuition payment is required at the time of application. If your application is not accepted, your tuition payment will be refunded in full.
