Anna Luan, MD, MS: Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Stanford University 

Bio: Anna Luan is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University. She specializes in diagnosing and treating hand and peripheral nerve disorders, amputations, and spasticity. Her research explores how technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to improve patient care and hand and nerve surgery.

Abstract: AI models will increasingly transform how we make decisions and enhance outcomes in surgery. This talk will introduce attendees to current advances and future opportunities in applications of AI in hand and peripheral nerve surgery. We will review exciting technologies such as computer vision to diagnose complex fractures and dislocations, algorithms for surgical planning and implant design, predictive models, and more. We will also discuss pitfalls in current techniques and areas of opportunity to dramatically affect clinical surgical practice.
