Virtual Event

This event is open to all!

The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and the ETH Zürich AI Center invite you to attend the Data-Centric AI Virtual Workshop on November 17-18, 2021. The workshop will present new areas of research and discussion that are relevant to the development of data-centric AI. Separately, several new data-centric competitions will be released that we hope will allow the research community to systematically investigate an interesting set of problems in dataset curation and model analysis.

What is Data-Centric AI?

Machine learning has traditionally focused on the development of new algorithms and methods for training predictive models. Lately, the promise of applying machine learning across fields such as medicine, technology and public policy has led to the emergence of a new engineering discipline in data-centric AI that is concerned with developing and deploying ML solutions to practical problems. While much of this nascent discipline is still based on “engineer’s intuition” and heuristics, a few clear takeaways have emerged: engineering, managing and understanding the data that feeds ML models can often matter much more in practice than modifying training algorithms and model architectures.
