Abstract:
Big Data are increasingly being used for both research and clinical care. Despite the increase of machine learning applications in both these fields, there is minimal work being done in specifically in pediatrics. Pediatrics presents a unique environment compared to adult care. I will discuss the role and impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning in research with the electronic health record, explore unique aspects of conducting work in pediatrics with biomedical informatics, and examine what is being done now with machine learning and what the future might hold.
