The Stanford ML Group is looking for a full-time postdoctoral scientist interested in research at the intersection of AI and healthcare. The postdoc will work with Professor Andrew Ng as well as Professor Curtis Langlotz, Professor Matthew Lungren, Professor Nigam Shah, and other medical faculty to lead cutting-edge AI for healthcare research projects. In this role, you will:
Conduct research at the intersection of AI and healthcare
Work with a variety of medical data including medical imaging, electronic health records, genomics
Collaborate closely with medical school faculty to lead the research projects
Recruit and lead teams comprising, as well as provide mentorship to, PhD, Master’s, and undergraduate students
A strong background in computer science and AI is required. More specifically, we assume you have practical, hands-on experience with carrying out a machine learning project including problem scoping, data preparation, modeling, and ideally model deployment. Prior publications at AI conferences are strongly preferred. Prior experience in medicine is not necessary so long as you are eager to dive deeply into this field and spend a significant amount of time learning it.
Leading teams comprising Master’s and undergraduate students is a key part of this role, and you are expected to provide mentorship to these students who will be working with our team to execute a variety of projects. Thus, strong communication and leadership skills are must-haves, so prior experience leading teams, teaching, and/or mentoring others is a significant plus.
Our group’s primary focus is doing academic work that makes an impact---that is, we emphasize doing work that helps with patient care and improves the healthcare system---and we prioritize impact over merely publishing lots of papers.
