Commercial Use of AIMI Datasets
Stanford AIMI's Shared Data program was established for the purpose of helping to democratize AI by sharing de-identified Stanford clinical data in AI-ready format. The datasets have been available for free and are shared broadly under a license that is restricted to non-commercial purposes. Some of the datasets have become a reference standard for developing and testing AI algorithms, with associated research papers cited extensively.
To further amplify the impact of this valuable resource, commercial entities can also license AIMI datasets. Approved companies gain access to datasets for an annual fee, which helps sustain and expand the AIMI Shared Data program.
We look forward to supporting your efforts to advance AI innovation in healthcare.

Selection
Requests are evaluated using the following criteria:
- Alignment with Stanford University's mission and values of research and education to benefit society
- Scientific validity of the proposed use
- The incremental clinical benefit
- Feasibility and likelihood of success of the projects
- Need for AIMI Center data vs other available sources
Fee
The annual fee is $70,000 USD per dataset in FY25 (through 8/31/25). The fee includes 1-year access to one dataset and is used to help cover the costs of the AIMI Shared Data program.
