From breakthrough models to real-world impact: what it takes to make AI work in healthcare
The AIMI Symposium + Summit Series 2026 convenes experts and practitioners across academia, healthcare, industry, and policy to examine the frontiers of health AI and what it takes to translate innovation into safe, effective, and scalable clinical use.
Spanning advances in AI methods, clinical integration, business viability, and system-level constraints, the series is designed to connect scientific progress with the realities of deployment. Across three convenings—the AIMI Symposium, the AIMI Pediatric Symposium, and the Academic x Industry Summit—the program brings together a cross-sector community to explore how AI moves from research to impact.
The AIMI Symposium + Summit Series takes place during the first week of June as part of Stanford Health AI Week, a series of events spanning research, clinical care, education, and policy.
AIMI Symposium
The AIMI Symposium is the Stanford AIMI Center’s flagship annual meeting, designed to make the most important advances in AI and medicine accessible to a broad audience, while examining how those advances translate into meaningful clinical impact.
The program progresses from recent developments in AI methods and clinical intelligence to real-world examples of human–AI collaboration, the challenges of building and scaling AI in healthcare markets, and the organizational and regulatory factors that ultimately shape adoption.
Sessions highlight developments across multimodal AI, clinical foundation models, predictive analytics, and decision support, while also addressing the practical questions facing clinicians, health systems, and industry leaders: what works, what doesn’t, and what determines whether AI succeeds in practice.
AIMI Pediatric Symposium
The AIMI Pediatric Symposium is a half-day convening focused on the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence for child health. The program highlights advances across early disease detection, predictive analytics, and clinical decision support tailored to pediatric populations.
Sessions explore emerging technologies alongside the critical clinical, data, and ethical considerations required for safe implementation, including representation gaps, consent frameworks, and the longitudinal nature of pediatric care. The symposium convenes clinicians, researchers, and technology leaders committed to advancing responsible AI innovation for children.
AIMI Academic x Industry Summit
The Academic x Industry Summit is a focused convening examining how academia and industry bring together their distinct strengths to advance the real-world deployment of artificial intelligence in health and medicine. The program convenes academic leaders, health systems, startups, and global industry partners working to translate research breakthroughs into scalable clinical impact.
Through case studies and roundtable dialogue, sessions explore partnership models, translational pathways, governance, and the shared responsibilities required to move AI forward responsibly. This year’s Summit places particular emphasis on the complementary roles of academia, emerging companies, and large industry partners in accelerating innovation and improving patient care. Seating is intentionally capped to foster meaningful dialogue.
